I learned a great deal from this book[0] by ARP co-founder David Friend. Arturia also has a very nice VST version[1] of the 2600.

If you like what you see, you can do worse than get yourself a Behringer 2600 - VST get a good sound but do not get you the feeling of "noodling", and the Korg clone is for collectors, not hackers.
